First Attempts

So a couple of weeks ago, Julie gave me a new camera for my birthday. It was something that, for a variety of reasons, I'd really been hoping for.

After getting the camera, I began subscribing to a news letter that is written to get photographers to try new things in their photography.

One of their suggestions for this week was to create a "Photo365" blog...take a picture of something, anything, and post it in a blog, and then share it with someone else. This will be my first attempts at this sort of thing. After talking with my niece, she and I decided to try this together so we'll see how it works. Maybe we can inspire each other along the way.

A few years ago I had cataract surgery. The difference it made in the clarity of my eyesight was remarkable.

Little by little though, my close-up vision has again begun to deteriorate. As I began to experiment with these photos that I took at work, I wanted something that would show the details that I don't often get to see anymore.

These photos are of a strand of "Mardi Gras" beads and some small foil birthday "stuff" that my coworkers had sprinkled on my desk for my birthday. Most of these are less than half an inch across.

This is a retaining wall outside our townhouse. The day had been rainy and overcast all day so the drabness kind of comes through in this one more. On a sunny day though, the lighting and shadows together from the sun and stones totally changes how this wall looks.
